How To: Configure Monit For Web Access

If you wish to manage monit services via a web interface, instead of command line, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Open /etc/monit.conf in an editor
  2. Add the following lines to the file:

    set httpd port 2812 and
use address localhost # only accept connection from localhost
allow localhost # allow localhost to connect to the server and
allow monit:monit # require user 'monit' with password 'monit'
allow @monit # allow users of group 'monit' to connect (rw)
allow @users readonly # allow users of group 'users' to connect readonly

  3. Restart monit using sudo service monit restart
  4. Access your server running monit in a web browser on port 2182 (e.g. http://reporting.interset.com:2812/).
